About me

My name is Denys Rtveliashvili and this is my blog.

I see myself as a technologist, explorer, and contrarian.

Mostly, I am interested in software engineering, quantitative finance, and human cognition. Physics, chemistry, biology, business, art, languages, and literature are also attractive to me.

As a software engineer, over a couple of decades, I have done some wonderful things which may be considered outlandish when measured by usual standards. However, that is the very reason why those efforts were such a success.

As a quant, I have worked on some challenging problems in finance and did a few projects as a hobby. Mathematics has always been fascinating to me, and I tend to perceive various things in an abstract, pure way. Naturally, the reality is more complex than any model. However, some models are useful and pleasant to work with, and I love the process of modelling real-world phenomena as formal systems.

At the moment, I live in the United Kingdom. It is the third country of residence for me. Time will tell if it will be the last one. I believe that the experience of living (not just visiting) in several countries, learning multiple languages, and getting oneself familiar with various cultures helps one to understand the world and the people in it better. Being a nomad, however, comes at a significant cost.

I love reading books (mainly sci-fi and weird fiction) and listening to various music. Some of these novels, stories, and music albums have helped me on my path.

Sometimes, I feel that I should share an idea or two with the world and that is why I have decided to create this blog. I hope you may find some of them amusing or inspiring.
